Terrorists on Thursday night invaded Dauran town in the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, setting ablaze the residence of a community leader, Malam Ahmad Ariri Galadawa, and abducting several residents.

The latest attack is another reminder of the persistent insecurity ravaging communities across Zamfara, where residents continue to face deadly raids, kidnappings and destruction of property.

SaharaReporters gathered that the assailants stormed Dauran iver night, firing indiscriminately before targeting homes in the community.

The attackers reportedly torched the home of Malam Ahmad Ariri Galadawa before whisking away an unspecified number of residents to an unknown destination.

Confirming the incident on Friday, security analyst Bakatsine disclosed that several people were kidnapped during the attack.

“Last night, bandits attacked Dauran town in Zurmi LGA of Zamfara State, burning down the home of community elder Malam Ahmad Ariri Galadawa and abducting several residents,” Bakatsine said in a security update.

“Another night of violence leaves families searching for loved ones and communities once again counting the cost of insecurity.”

Zurmi Local Government Area has remained one of the worst-hit areas in Zamfara State, with armed groups frequently carrying out attacks on rural communities despite ongoing security operations aimed at curbing violent crimes in the region.
