2027 Poll: Niger Christians Vow To Reject APC Muslim -Muslim Ticket
A Coalition under the aegis of Concerned Christian Stakeholders in Niger State, says it rejected the continuous Muslim -Muslim Governorship Ticket, considering their contributions, dedication and population in the State.
The Coalition Secretary,Comrade Jude Johnson made the position of the group known while speaking to newsmen in Minna,on Tuesay 7th July 2026.
Johnson noted that the Christians in the state are over Forty Five percent(45%) in terms of population, claiming that the present administration of APC has undermined and relegated Christians in the just concluded primaries of the APC, adding that qualified and popular Christian politicians who aspired to contest and be voted into various elective positions were compelled to dropped their ambitions because of their religion.
According to Jude,if we allowed margination and deliberate segregation during the previous administration, and during the 2023 elections,we will not tolerate it this second term, saying, the same faith (Muslim -Muslim) ticket is insensitive to the state’s religious diversity”.He noted.
Johnson drew the attention of governor Bago that the Coalition have capable hands in
Niger East(Zone.B) Senatorial District who have the prerequisites requirements and are dedicated members of the APC, emphasizing that the Coalition should be given a fair treatment by picking a Deputy Governor from amongst Christians.
He however urged the governor and all major stakeholders of the rullingbAll Progressive Congress(APC) to facilitate the emergenc of a Christian Deputy Governor for the 2027 gubernatorial elections.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Coalition,Mr.Johnathern Vatsa, who was one term,Publicity Secretary of the APC in Niger, hinted that as members of the APC,they are advising the governor that people have alternative opposition parties if likely they go for other political parties that may decided to offer ticket to Muslim-Christian,they may not have control over them.
In Vatsa’s words”. Governor can not tell me let’s go to Church and talk to our people, our people will tell us look at ADC is having a Christian Deputy Governor,so we don’t want to make that mistake,is going to be a serious political error”.Vatsa said.
Vatsa a former Commissioner of Information, maintained that Christians were sleeping before, but now, they have waked up from the slumber, pionting out that, they are no longer sleeping, and they would continue to wake.
“Whatever you see me doing is not because of me,but is because of unborn Christian children in Niger State,if we allow this to continue,a day and time will come, our children will not have space”.Vatsa lamented
