Fake Lawyer Arrested After Winning 24 Court Cases, Including 3 Criminal Cases, in Delta
A 30-year-old man, Collins Ehibor, was granted bail by a Magistrate Court in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, after being arrested for allegedly posing as a lawyer .
The court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Gregory Epete, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties after he pleaded not guilty to charges of impersonation and fraud . The case has been adjourned to July 17, 2026 .
Ehibor was arrested on July 6, 2026, and arraigned on two counts: impersonation and fraudulently obtaining by false pretense . According to police investigations, he had reportedly handled and won approximately 24 cases, including three criminal matters . The courtroom was packed with members of the Effurun Branch of the NBA and other concerned individuals during his arraignment .
The arrest follows an earlier incident in October 2025, where another fake lawyer, U.T. Oghenetejiri, was apprehended by the NBA Udu Branch after he attempted to flee from the Orhuwhorun Magistrate Court when he could not answer a question from the magistrate . It was discovered that Oghenetejiri never attended law school and was not enrolled in the roll of legal practitioners maintained by the Supreme Court of Nigeria .
