Parade, prosecute Oyo school kidnappers – Senator Ningi tells FG
Bauchi Central Senator Abdul Ningi has called on the Federal Government and security agencies to swiftly prosecute and publicly parade suspects arrested in connection with the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
Ningi said those responsible for the crime should be made to face the full weight of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.
Speaking during plenary at the Senate on Wednesday, Ningi warned that any delay in prosecuting the suspects could undermine public confidence in the justice system.
“What is important going forward now is to take a cue. Now we have people arrested, they must be paraded, prosecuted and let the law take its full course,” he said.
“Delayed prosecution will create another impression that something is wrong. I therefore call on the security agency to prosecute, parade, and use them as an example.”
Recall that some gunmen kidnapped pupils and teachers from Baptist Nursery and Primary School, LA Primary School and Community Grammar School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo state.
The victims were rescued after 56 days in captivity before they were rescued on Friday by a joint team of security operatives. (Punch)
