Save Nigeria Group USA, Coalition condemn Southern Kaduna killings, demand urgent global action

The Save Nigeria Group USA (SNG-USA) and the U.S.–Nigeria Civil Society Coalition have condemned the killing of at least 30 civilians in Naridon (Kizakoro), Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing the attack as a coordinated assault on defenceless residents and calling for urgent intervention by the Nigerian government, the United States and the international community.

In a joint statement issued on Monday from Washington, D.C., the coalition said the late-night attack, which reportedly occurred between Sunday, July 26 and the early hours of Monday, July 27, left mostly women and children dead, while several homes and businesses were razed.

The coalition also called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible, increased international attention to the violence In Southern Kaduna, and emergency humanitarian assistance for affected communities.

Coalition spokesperson, Stephen Osemwegie, described the incident as another tragic reminder of the worsening insecurity confronting rural communities in Southern Kaduna.

“This is not a casual local dispute; it is a coordinated assault on unarmed civilians in their homes. The persistent impunity enjoyed by these armed groups only invites further devastation. We call on Nigerian security authorities to fulfil their constitutional mandate to protect all citizens, regardless of ethnicity or religious affiliation,” Osemwegie said.

According to the coalition, armed assailants identified as suspected Fulani ethnic militants stormed the community at about 11:55 p.m., opening fire on sleeping residents before setting homes and businesses ablaze.

The statement said at least 30 people were killed, including members of the Monday and Emmanuel families, while others sustained serious injuries. It identified some of the critically injured victims as Comfort Monday, Success Monday and James Emmanuel.

The coalition further alleged that the residence of Hosea Garba was destroyed during the attack, while shops belonging to Emmanuel Garba, Luka Ahmadu, Monday Markus and Dogo Rana were burnt, dealing a severe blow to the community’s economic livelihood.

“The tragic events in Naridon serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for structural security reforms, equal protection under the law, and an unyielding commitment to human rights across Nigeria,” the coalition said

The advocacy groups urged the Federal Government to immediately track down and prosecute those behind the attack, saying restoring public confidence in the rule of law requires decisive action against violent criminal groups.

They also appealed to the United States Government and Congress to increase diplomatic engagement with Nigeria on the protection of vulnerable religious and ethnic minority communities, while calling on international media organisations to sustain global attention on the security situation in Southern Kaduna.

“Aid organisations and the government must urgently deploy medical, shelter and food assistance to displaced families in Kauru Local Government Area. The international community must not remain silent while vulnerable communities continue to suffer repeated attacks,” the coalition stated.

The Save Nigeria Group USA and the U.S.–Nigeria Civil Society Coalition said they would continue advocating for good governance, human rights, religious freedom and the rule of law in Nigeria through international awareness, policy engagement and diaspora mobilisation.

The coalition maintained that the latest killings highlight the urgent need for stronger security measures, accountability for perpetrators, and coordinated humanitarian support to prevent further loss of lives in Southern Kaduna.
