Onaiyekan: I have classmates in primary, secondary schools – Amaechi mocks Tinubu govt
Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has taken a swipe at President Bola Tinubu’s administration amid the controversy surrounding the his educational records, insisting that his own academic history can easily be verified.
Amaechi made the remarks on Tuesday during an appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, while reacting to issues surrounding comments directed at Cardinal John Onaiyekan.
The former Rivers State governor said he had classmates from his primary, secondary and university days who could attest to his educational background.
“I don’t have to submit my law degree to INEC. I have classmates. I have classmates in primary school. I can call them now. Christian Obong was my classmate in primary school. I can call my classmates in secondary school,” he said.
“I have classmates in primary school. I have classmates in secondary school. Alex Otti was my junior at the University of Port Harcourt. I’m calling people you can ask whether I went through university or primary school or secondary school.”
Amaechi, however, urged those around President Tinubu to show respect for the Christian faith and the Catholic Church, following the backlash over comments made against Cardinal John Onaiyekan.
“I’m here to say that you need to please beg the President. They should please respect the Christian faith. They should please respect the Catholic Church, and they should respect our bishops. I’ve just told you,” he said.
