Police Recover Nine Bodies In Niger Community
The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of nine bodies on the Wawa-Lumma road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The victims were suspected to have been killed by bandits while travelling on the road.
The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Minna that a team of police and military personnel was dispatched to evacuate the bodies after receiving the information on Tuesday.
He said clearance operations had been intensified to secure the area from any security threat.
“Police and military tactical teams were mobilised to the scene; the bodies were recovered, while clearance operations were intensified to secure the area,” he said.
The development came days after security agencies rescued 308 persons abducted in separate attacks in Kwara and Niger states.
Of the 308 rescued victims, 163 were abducted from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, while 145 others were kidnapped in a separate attack in Niger State. (NAN)
