Former Adamawa Governor Bindow Returns To APC

A former Governor of Adamawa State, Senator Muhammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow, has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bindow formally re-registered as a member of APC at his ward in Mubi, the commercial hub of Adamawa State, on Sunday, in the presence of the Mubi ward APC Chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Guruja.

The exercise was witnessed by Bindow’s supporters, friends, family members, associates, and well-wishers who gathered to welcome his return.

Speaking on his decision, Bindow said he had always respected party discipline and avoided actions capable of being considered as anti-party.

Bindow explained that his return to the APC was consistent with his long-standing political principles and followed wide and extensive consultations with his political associates and confidants.

He further revealed that he had discussions with Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, whom he described as brother and confidant, before making his decision.

According to him, many former colleagues, aides, supporters, and associates had repeatedly appealed and encouraged him to return to the APC and continue his political journey on the party’s platform.

He also recalled his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu, describing it as “a pleasant and memorable one”, saying the President had expressed happiness over his decision to rejoin the party.

He endorsed all APC candidates and pledged his support toward the party’s success at the polls, urging electorate to vote for President Bola Tinubu at the centre and Ahmad Tijjani Galadima as Governor in the state, alongside all the other APC candidates.

Senator Bindow said his return to the APC was not about personal ambition or division, but the desire to join forces and strengthen the party to ensure its victory.

“I am back to the APC not to divide, but to contribute; not to fight, but to build; and above all, to work with the party and its candidates toward victory.” Bindow explained.

Senator Bindow, who was seeking a second term as governor, withdrew from the governorship race on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state in May 2026.(daily trust)
