BREAKING: Nigeria’s GDP grows by 4.43% in Q2 2026 – NBS
Nigeria’s economy grew by 4.43 per cent in real terms in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) disclosed this in its latest GDP report, released on Monday.
The latest growth rate represents a 0.20 percentage-point increase compared with the same quarter of the previous year, indicating a modest improvement in economic activity.
The NBS said the growth was driven largely by stronger performances in the agriculture and services sectors, although growth in the industrial sector slowed significantly during the period.
The agricultural sector grew by 4.39 per cent in Q2 2026, compared with 2.82 per cent recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2025.
The statistics agency said, “Agriculture grew by 4.39 per cent, an improvement from the 2.82 per cent recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2025.”
However, growth in the industrial sector weakened considerably, falling to 3.96 per cent from 7.46 per cent recorded in Q2 2025.
The NBS stated, “The growth of the industry sector stood at 3.96 per cent from 7.46 per cent recorded in the second quarter of 2025.”
Meanwhile, the services sector remained the fastest-growing of the three major sectors, expanding by 4.60 per cent in Q2 2026, compared with 3.94 per cent in the corresponding quarter of 2025.
The NBS said, “The services sector recorded a growth of 4.60 per cent from 3.94 per cent in the same quarter of 2025.”
