Nigerian Woman Unreachable Days After Arriving In Doha

A Nigerian woman, who travelled from Lagos to Doha, Qatar, has reportedly been unreachable for more than 48 hours after arriving in the country, raising concerns among her family and prompting inquiries by authorities and airline officials.

The woman, 37, boarded Qatar Airways flight QR1408 from Lagos International Airport to Doha on Tuesday.

Her brother, Jonathan Jibo, in a post on X said the family last communicated with her through WhatsApp while she was still on board the aircraft, using the flight’s Wi-Fi.

According to Jibo, the flight landed safely in Doha and a person designated to pick her up was already waiting at the airport. However, she did not meet the person who had gone to receive her.

The family subsequently contacted the airport desk and the airline, which reportedly indicated that she had collected her luggage.

The brother said the development has caused concern because the woman is experienced with airport procedures, having worked at Lagos Airport for almost 12 years.

Jibo said his sister was travelling abroad for the first time, had no friends in Qatar and had already paid for her accommodation and other arrangements months before her trip. She was also expected to resume work in Doha weeks after her arrival.

The X user with the handle @digitalWorldB also tagged the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Mr. Michael Achimugu, in his post.
