Don’t Pray For Your Wife To Feed You – Pete Edochie Tells Men
Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, has advised married men against praying for circumstances that would leave them dependent on their wives for their daily meals.
Edochie said men should strive to uphold their responsibility of providing for their families, warning that prolonged dependence on a wife for basic needs could subject a man to emotional distress and ridicule.
The actor gave the advice while featuring on Isbae U’s interview platform, Curiosity Made Me Ask.
Speaking from the perspective of his experience in marriage, Edochie said his comments were informed by the lessons he had gathered over nearly six decades as a married man.
He said, “I want you to listen properly. This is wisdom from somebody who has been in that institution for almost 60 years. I have been married for the past 57 years.
“If things change and your wife has to feed you for two or three days, you would want to take poison. The kind of insult that will be heaped on you because your wife is feeding you, don’t ever think about it.”
Edochie’s comments centred on the traditional expectation that men should provide for their families, while highlighting the emotional pressure that financial dependence can create within a marriage.
The veteran actor has remained a prominent figure in Nollywood, with a career spanning several decades and numerous roles in Nigerian film and television.
His remarks have since drawn attention to longstanding discussions around marriage, financial responsibility and changing expectations of husbands and wives in contemporary society.
