APC has 12.8m registered members…. Tinubu will record ‘sweeping victory’ in 2027 – Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council says President Bola Tinubu will record a “sweeping victory” in the 2027 elections. 

Speaking on Monday during an interview on Arise TV, Ima Niboro, spokesman of the APC campaign council, said the growing membership and the performance of Tinubu’s administration have put the ruling party in a strong position to win the presidential election.

Niboro, a former media adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, said the APC has 12.8 million registered members, which he described as a formidable electoral base ahead of the polls.

He said the figure was significantly higher than the number of registered members of major opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the Labour Party, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Look at the party registration. The APC has 12.8 million registered members, while the opposition parties are far behind. However, if tomorrow the APC wins, they will say we rigged the election,” Niboro said.

Niboro said Tinubu deserves a second term based on his administration’s performance since assuming office in 2023.

“The achievements of the president in the last three years are quite outstanding, such that sometimes you don’t even know where to start,” he said.

“But the most important achievement of the APC is the stabilisation of the economy, because the economy that this government inherited was in tatters. This government has been able to solve or sort out most of the problems it inherited, and there is growth across sectors.”

Niboro also defended the removal of the petrol subsidy, describing the policy as difficult but inevitable because the previous arrangement had become fiscally unsustainable.

According to him, the three leading presidential candidates in the 2023 elections had all acknowledged that subsidy removal was necessary.

Niboro said the government’s longer-term priority should be to reduce Nigerians’ dependence on petrol by expanding cheaper transportation alternatives.

Niboro added that creating viable alternatives to petrol-powered transport would provide a more sustainable response to rising transportation costs.(TheCable)
