US House Democrats Call Trump ‘Most Corrupt President In Our History,’ Vow To Investigate Him, Family
Democrats in the United States House of Representatives have described President Donald J. Trump as “the most corrupt president in our history,” vowing to investigate him and members of his family when the party regains control of congressional committees.
The United States Democrats Caucus of the House of Representatives made the declaration in a statement, saying Democrats would use their congressional powers to investigate the president and pursue what they described as justice for the American people.
“Donald Trump is the most corrupt president in our history,” the Democratic lawmakers said in a post on their official X account on Tuesday.
“When Democrats get the gavels, we will investigate him and his family and get justice for the American people.”
The statement comes amid an escalating war of words between Trump and congressional Democrats, following the president’s recent allegations that th Democratic Party and former Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign illegally paid millions of dollars to celebrities for political endorsements.
Earlier in September, Trump had also been accused of attempting to bribe American voters after promising to give every adult citizen $5,000 if Republicans retain control of Congress in the November midterm elections.
Trump made the promise at the Republican Party’s midterm convention in Dallas, where he urged Americans to support Republican candidates in the November 3 election.
Trump described the proposed payment as a “Trump dividend”, tying its payment directly to a Republican victory in both chambers of Congress.
The proposal drew sharp criticism online, with some users describing it as an attempt to influence voters through a financial incentive.
The latest criticism from House Democrats therefore adds to a series of controversies and political disputes surrounding Trump as he seeks to maintain Republican control of Congress.
Previously, SaharaReporters reported that House Democrats described Trump as “a fool” after he accused the Democratic Party and Harris’ campaign of illegally paying millions of dollars to celebrities for political endorsements.
The exchange followed a post by Trump on his Truth Social platform, where he alleged that Democrats made unlawful payments to singer Beyoncé, media personality Oprah Winfrey and civil rights activist Al Sharpton in connection with the last presidential election.
Reacting to the allegations, House Democrats dismissed the president’s claims, declaring: “Donald Trump is a fool.”
Trump had renewed his demand for investigations into the alleged payments, insisting that they violated U.S. election laws and warranted criminal prosecution.
In his post, Trump wrote: “I’m looking at the large amount of money owed by the Democrats, after the Presidential Election, and the fact that they admit to paying, probably illegally, Eleven Million Dollars to singer Beyoncé for an ENDORSEMENT (she never sang, not one note, and left the stage to a booing and angry audience!), Three Million Dollars for ‘expenses,’ to Oprah, Six Hundred Thousand Dollars to very low rated TV ‘anchor,’ Al Sharpton (a total lightweight!), and others to be named for doing, absolutely NOTHING!”
He further alleged that the payments were intentionally misrepresented in campaign financial records.
“These ridiculous fees were incorrectly stated in the books and records. You are not allowed to pay for an endorsement. It is totally illegal to do so. Can you imagine what would happen if politicians started paying for people to endorse them. All hell would break out!” Trump said.
The president also directly accused Harris and those he claimed received the payments of violating the law.
“Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he added (SaharaReporters)
