Atiku Launches ‘Ask AA’ Portal to Open Direct Channel to Nigerians
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has launched a citizen-engagement platform called “Ask AA,” designed to allow Nigerians to question him directly about his political record, policy proposals and plans for the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to reports by TVC News and The Punch on Thursday, October 15, the platform is scheduled to go live at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. The initiative was announced by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council.
What Nigerians Can Expect From the Portal
The campaign says the platform will allow citizens to submit questions and recommendations on several national issues, including:
The economy: Atiku’s proposals for economic growth, inflation and improving living standards.
Security: His approach to tackling insecurity across the country.
Job creation: Plans to expand employment opportunities and support economic activity.
Technology: How digital tools could improve government efficiency and public services.
Cost of living: Measures intended to make life more affordable for Nigerians.
Atiku is expected to answer questions personally, with members of his media team also assisting in responding to submissions. The campaign says he will personally call selected participants who leave their contact details through the platform.
Campaign Plans to Reach Nigerians Without Internet Access
The initiative is also expected to include a radio interface to enable people in communities with limited or no internet access to participate.
Atiku described the initiative as a platform for transparency, accountability and dialogue, arguing that leadership should involve direct communication between political leaders and the public.
He also invited Nigerians to scrutinise his economic record, question his policy proposals and contribute ideas on national development.
Political Significance Ahead of 2027
The launch comes as political parties and presidential aspirants position themselves ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
For Atiku, the portal offers an opportunity to communicate his proposals directly to voters and respond to questions about his record in public office. It could also provide a forum for citizens to raise concerns about economic hardship, unemployment, security and governance.
However, the initiative’s effectiveness will depend on how accessible the platform becomes, the quality and transparency of the answers provided, and whether difficult questions receive substantive responses rather than campaign messaging.
The platform’s announcement alone does not establish how much influence it will have on voters or the wider political debate.
