Police kill two suspected bandits, recover N10 million ransom in Kano
The police command in Kano State says it killed two suspected bandits and recovered N10 million ransom in Falgore Forest in the state.
In a statement on Saturday, the command’s spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said one of the victims, Kabiru Aliyu, was released after a ransom payment.
He stated that three suspected bandits, believed to be from Maigwanda village in the Kubau area of Kaduna State, came out to collect the ransom, adding that the rescued victims were kidnapped on Sunday.
According to him, upon collection of the ransom, the victim was released unharmed.
“However, while the suspects were returning to their hideout in Falgore Forest shortly after collecting the money, they were ambushed by local hunters known as ‘Yan Bula’,” he said.
Mr Kiyawa said that during the ambush, two of the suspected bandits were neutralised, while the third suspect escaped with injuries.
The police said the entire sum of N10 million was recovered intact from the neutralised suspects.
“Preliminary investigation revealed the identity of one of the neutralised suspects as one Dogo Isah, a commercial motorcycle rider (Okada), of Maigwanda Village, Kubau LGA, Kaduna State,” he said.
He added that the rescued victim has been debriefed, medically examined and reunited with his family.
