The National Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, has passed away at the glorious age of 100.

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa officially announced his passing on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, paying tribute to him as a beacon of wisdom and integrity.

Born on May 11, 1926, Pa Fasoranti lived through pivotal eras of Nigerian history, establishing himself as a distinguished educationist who founded Akure High School.

Politically, he served as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State (1979–1983) and later emerged as the unifying national leader of Afenifere.

Despite enduring personal tragedies, such as the 2019 killing of his daughter Funke Olakunrin, he remained a resilient moral compass until his final days.

Governor Aiyedatiwa extended condolences to the Fasoranti family, the Akure Kingdom, and the Yoruba race.
