Nigerians Who Can’t See Tinubu’s Achievements Will Be Given ‘Bola Ahmed Tinubu Glasses’ – Remi Tinubu
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has joked that Nigerians who are unable to see the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will be given “Bola Ahmed Tinubu glasses.”
Mrs Tinubu reportedly made the remark while expressing her dream of leaving the Presidential Villa in 2031 with a Nigeria that is better than the country her husband inherited in May 2023.
The statement has added a humorous twist to the ongoing debate over the performance of the Tinubu administration and whether its policies are delivering the desired results for Nigerians.
Tinubu’s Achievements and Economic Reforms
Since assuming office in May 2023, President Tinubu has introduced major economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and the liberalisation of the foreign exchange market.
The administration has defended these policies as necessary measures to improve government revenue, address economic distortions and establish a foundation for long-term economic growth.
However, the reforms have also been accompanied by significant economic pressures on households and businesses, particularly through higher living costs and increased transportation expenses.
While supporters of the president argue that his policies are necessary for the country’s economic recovery, critics insist that the government must do more to ease the burden on ordinary Nigerians.
Nigerians React to the ‘Tinubu Glasses’ Remark
The First Lady’s reported comment is likely to generate mixed reactions among Nigerians, particularly on social media, where the president’s performance remains a subject of intense political debate.
Supporters may see the remark as a humorous way of suggesting that some Nigerians are unwilling to acknowledge the administration’s achievements.
Critics, however, may argue that citizens do not need special glasses to assess the government’s performance, insisting that improvements should be evident in their standard of living, purchasing power, employment opportunities and personal security.
For many Nigerians, the central question remains whether the administration’s economic reforms will eventually translate into better living conditions.
Can Tinubu Leave Nigeria Better in 2031?
Mrs Tinubu’s ambition to leave the Presidential Villa in 2031 with a better Nigeria points to the legacy the president hopes to establish.
If President Tinubu wins re-election in 2027, he could remain in office until 2031, subject to the constitutional electoral process.
By then, the administration will be judged on measurable outcomes, including economic stability, poverty reduction, job creation, infrastructure development and improved security.
Ultimately, whether Nigerians need “Tinubu glasses” or not, the president’s achievements will be assessed against the realities of everyday life.
For the administration, the challenge is to ensure that the progress it highlights is not only visible in official reports but also felt by citizens across the country.
