2027: Even With A Joint Ticket, Atiku, Obi Can’t Defeat Tinubu — Onanuga
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has said a joint ticket of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, can’t stop President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Daily Trust reports that the opposition coalition adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The coalition is made up of Atiku; Obi; a former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola; a former Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufai; and a former senate president, David Mark, among others.
Onanuga knocked the coalition on Thursday when he appeared as a guest on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise TV.
The presidential aide said the president’s achievements will speak for him in the coming elections, adding that the All Progressives Congress (APC) doesn’t see the coalition as a threat.
“They are free to form alliances but as far as the APC is concerned we are not seeing them as any threat…If you merge Peter Obi and Atiku together, there is no way the two of them can beat a Bola Tinubu and Shettima ticket. It is going to be impossible.
“They are jumping the gun, it is not yet time for politicking,” he said.
