60-year-old man jailed for assaulting Ikeja disco worker

An Ifo Magistrates’ Court has sentenced 60-year-old Bakare Buraimoh to six months’ imprisonment for assaulting a worker with Ikeja Electric.

It was gathered that Buraimoh, a resident of Isheri-Olofin, assaulted one Abiodun Fakoya attached to the Olowora branch of the electricity company.

Buraimoh was arraigned before Magistrate A.I. Arogundade on counts bordering on assault.

The magistrate sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment with an option of fine of N100,000.

He ordered that the convict be remanded in the Ilaro Custodial Centre, Ogun State.

Reacting to the judgement, the Head of Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric, Felix Ofulue, said the decision to seek redress in court was to stem the menace of attack on staff of the company, adding that he hoped it would serve as a deterrent to others.‌

He said, “Ikeja Electric has provided various online and offline channels to enable our customers to reach us. Customers should make use of the appropriate channels to communicate their concerns to the company.” (Punch)
