Olorogun Oscar Ibru, Billionaire Industrialist And Scion Of Ibru Dynasty, Dies At 67
Olorogun Oscar Ibru, billionaire businessman and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, has passed away at the age of 67. His family confirmed the news on Wednesday, stating that he died after a brief illness, though no further details were disclosed.
As the first son of the late Olorogun Michael Ibru, Oscar was a central figure in sustaining and expanding the vast Ibru empire—one of Nigeria’s most recognisable corporate dynasties. He steered the conglomerate’s diverse interests in shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and commerce, ensuring the family’s legacy remained firmly entrenched in the nation’s economic landscape.
Beyond business, Oscar Ibru was regarded as both a custodian of his father’s legacy and a torchbearer of the entrepreneurial spirit that defined the Ibru name. Under his leadership, the group not only provided jobs and wealth but also supported philanthropic and cultural initiatives that touched countless lives.
His passing marks another poignant chapter for the Ibru family, following the death of its patriarch, Michael Ibru, in 2016. Funeral arrangements, according to the family, will be announced in the coming days.
