A major contender for the Oniru stool, Prince Hakeem Ajasa, has urged members of the Oniru Royal Family to support the newly-installed Oniru of Iruland, Oba Abdul Wasiu Omogbolahan Lawal.
Ajasa led members of the Abisogun Ruling House to pay homage to Oba Lawal at the palace last Friday.
Many members of the family converged on Prince Ajasa’s Ogba home before moving in a convoy to the palace on Victoria Island.
Some joined the team at the palace.
Oba Lawal was joined by Commissioner for Home Affairs Prince Anofiu Elegushi and Elegushi of Ikateland Oba Saheed Elegushi to receive the guests.
The trio, Prince Ajasa and some family members went for a closed-door meeting that lasted for almost three hours.
According to Prince Ajasa, the visit was part of the reconciliatory process needed to move Iruland and environs forward.
He prayed for s successful reign of the monarch.
He said: “Kabiyesi, we have come to show our support to you. Be rest assured of our support and prayers for the success of your reign on the stool.
“Iru has been peaceful and it will remain a peaceful kingdom, save for the recent minor misunderstanding which is normal.
“I want to urge all the sons and daughters of Oniru Royal family from the three ruling houses – Abisogun, Akiogun and Ogunyemi to come together and support our new king, we must understand that it is God who truly appoints a king and not man, and He has chosen Oba Abdul Wasiu Omogbolahan Lawal and it is important for us to submit to the will of the Almighty and rally round our monarch.”
He advised those who thought he would rock the boat to perish the thought.
“Some people have questioned my motive for supporting the monarch, they don’t know that Oba Omogbolahan and I are good cousins with a long-standing cordial relationship. Sustaining that relationship and keeping our families united is more than my personal ambition. There can’t be crisis between us because we have a family name to protect, and we must play our part to protect the good name our forefathers left for us,” he said.
He appealed to social media enthusiasts and bloggers to please stop promoting hate and discord within the Iru Kingdom.
Prince Ajasa, the Chief Personal Security Officer to Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for their love and supports.
“My deepest gratitude goes to Asiwaju Tinubu. He will always have my highest regard, we pray that the Almighty Allah guide his path always.
“I am also thankful to Oba Saheed Elegushi for his maturity and wisdom. It is my prayer that the relationship between the Elegushis and Onirus will always remain cordial. We are proud to tell the world that henceforth, peace will reign supreme in Iruland.”
Oba Lawal thanked the team for their visit.
He reaffirmed that his relationship with his cousin, Prince Ajasa dated back for decades.
He assured that irrespective of what happens, their relationship would remain cordial.
“I appreciate everyone who contributed to my ascension to the throne, I pray to God to grant me the wisdom of Solomon. The good people of Iruland can be assured that we will all work together towards the common good of our people,” he said.
The monarch also thanked Oba Elegushi, Prince Elegushi and other personalities for their presence.
Iruland, he said, will witness more development during his reign.
Commissioner for Home Affairs Prince Elegushi said he wasn’t surprised that Prince Ajasa came to pay homage to the monarch because the duo’s relationship has always been cordial.
“The visit shows a lot and cast aspersions on negative things people are saying on social media. Abisogun Ruling House is never a divided house; the visit will strengthen the peace in the community,” he said.
Prince Elegushi urged other ruling houses to come together and support for the development of the area.
Oba Elegushi hailed Prince Ajasa’s maturity and large heart.
His visit, the monarch said, has shown his love for the unity of the royal family.
He appealed to the other members of the royal family to sheath their swords and support the monarch. (The Nation)
