Samuel Kalu tests positive for Coronavirus
Super Eagles player and Bordeaux forward, Samuel Kalu has tested positive for Coronavirus, becoming the second Nigerian football star to test positive to the virus.
Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu tested positive for coronavirus on return to pre-season with Genk but has now recovered.
Samuel Kalu has been in quarantine after he tested positive for coronavirus, he was subjected to a test when he arrived in Bordeaux from Nigeria.
Bordeaux had announced that one of their players had tested positive for the virus without mentioning the person but a report by AFP revealed that the player was Kalu.
The 22-year-old has been in quarantine and has missed Bordeaux’s training sessions since pre-season resumed.
The Nigeria international is expected to rejoin the rest of the squad on Monday, July 27, 2020 should he turn in a negative test.
Kalu spent most of his time in Nigeria after he was permitted by his club to travel following the suspension of Ligue 1 in France.
It can also be recalled that Samuel Kalu collapsed in the eve of Nigeria’s 2019 Afcon opener.
Kalu was said to have been dehydrated while training with the rest of the team ahead of Saturday’s Group B game against Burundi.
