Despite being under house arrest, Ronaldinho hosts parties with models
Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho has been accused of hosting parties attended by groups of models while under house arrest at a luxury hotel in Paraguay.
The silky-footed forward – a two-time FIFA World Player of the Year – spent his 40th birthday locked in a Paraguayan prison, along with his agent and brother, after the pair were caught trying to enter the Latin American country with fake passports back in March.
After a month behind bars, the De Assis Moreiras moved into house arrest at the Palmaroga Hotel in the capital Asuncion after making a $1.6 million bail.
According to Paraguayan newspaper HOY, eyewitnesses have spotted the duo welcoming several women in one go to their rooms until the early hours – breaching both the terms of their release and night-time curfews imposed in Paraguay due to coronavirus.
One source claimed to have seen “at least two women at a time” coming to visit them – some of them famous – carrying presents and “high-quality” beverages.
The source is quoted as saying: “I think they are models because they all have the looks.
“The famous ones enter directly via the car park and the ones who aren’t are driven up to the door and come in via the front.
“They dance and sing karaoke.”
People in Paraguay are currently banned from partying between midnight and 5am on any day of the week – and certainly if they are under house arrest.
Ronaldinho and his brother could be released from house arrest in the coming weeks pending a hearing over whether to suspend their sentence.
Less than a decade since his exit from AC Milan, the entire affair is the culmination of a decline almost as spectacular as Ronaldinho’s rabonas.
The forward won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002, shortly after arriving in Europe for successful spells at Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.
But Ronaldinho was criticised for his late-night party lifestyle and an apparent lack of dedication in training as he left Milan prematurely in 2011.
