Neymar, Di Maria and Paredes test positive for COVID-19
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) stars, Neymar, Angel Di Maria, and Leandro Paredes have all reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment.
The Ligue 1 champions confirmed that three of their players tested positive to the virus but did not name the players involved.
Neymar, Angel Di Maria, and Leandro Paredes are believed to be the three players to have tested positive, as reported by French outlet, L’Equipe.
The three players have been holidaying in Ibiza following the club’s defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League final on August 23.
A club statement read:
‘Three PSG-English players are confirmed positive after a Sars CoV2 test and have undergone the appropriate health protocols,’
‘All players and staff will continue to be tested over the next few days.’
All three players will now spend time in quarantine and may likely miss the first PSG fixture of the new season against Lens on September 10.
The Parisians picked up a third successive league title in April after the French football authorities decided to cancel the season.
Tuchel’s side were 12 points clear of second-placed Marseille with a game in hand when Ligue 1 scrapped all remaining fixtures, but will be playing catch-up when they finally return to domestic action.
