Ex-Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan diagnosed with cancer
Former Newcastle and England manager Kevin Keegan, a legendary figure in English football, has been diagnosed with cancer at the age of 74, according to Sky Sports on Wednesday.
Sky Sports reported that his family confirmed the news in an official statement shared by Newcastle United, stating that he was recently admitted to hospital with ongoing abdominal symptoms.
“Kevin Keegan was recently admitted to hospital for further evaluation of ongoing abdominal symptoms.
“These investigations have revealed a diagnosis of cancer, for which Kevin will undergo treatment.
“Kevin is grateful to the medical team for their intervention and ongoing care. During this difficult time, the family is requesting privacy, and will be making no further comments,” Keegan’s family added.
Keegan is one of English football’s most beloved figures, a prolific forward who starred for Liverpool, Hamburg and Newcastle United, and a two-time winner of the prestigious Ballon d’Or during his time in Germany.
He earned 63 caps for England, scoring 21 goals
