The number of confirmed coronavirus infections recorded in Nigeria has now surpassed 60,000.
The country recorded its index case of the virus on February 27, 2020.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded 111 new positive samples in 10 states and the federal capital territory (FCT) on Saturday, increasing the total figure of confirmed cases to 60,103.
According to the breakdown of new cases confirmed on Saturday, Plateau recorded the highest figure with 32 positive samples, Lagos had 23, while FCT had 15.
Lagos still accounts for the most infections recorded so far with 19,909 cases, followed by FCT with 5,805, and Plateau with 3,536.
The three states with the least infections are Kogi with five cases, and Yobe and Zamfara with 79 infections each — the three states have ranked low in testing capacity.
However, 94 persons were discharged on Saturday, and the figure of recoveries has now hit 51,711.
Although Lagos has also recorded the most recoveries with over 15,000 persons discharged, the state still holds the top spot for highest number of active cases with 4,455 patients, followed by Oyo with 706, and Plateau with 505.
Two person were confirmed to have died of COVID-19 complications on Saturday — after six consecutive days with zero deaths — and the current fatality toll stands at 1,115.
While Nigeria has now crossed 550,000 in the total number of samples tested, 7,277 are still active cases. (The Cable)
