Man City sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth for £65m
Manchester City have completed the signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth FC for £65 million.
The club announced the signing in a statement on Friday.
The 26-year-old Ghanaian has penned a five-and-a-half-year deal, which will see him stay with the Cityzens until 2031.
Semenyo will wear jersey number 42 for City, as the club triggered his release clause, making him Bournemouth’s record sale.
“I am so proud to have joined Manchester City,” the attacker said.
“They have set the highest of standards, and it’s a club with world-class players, world-class facilities and one of the greatest managers ever in Pep [Guardiola].
“I have so much scope for improvement, so to be at this club, at this stage of my career, is perfect for me. It’s a real privilege to be here.
“My best football is yet to come, I am sure of that.”
Semenyo played his last match for Bournemouth in the team’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday. He scored the late winner in the five-goal cracker.
He is currently the third leading goalscorer in the English Premier League (EPL) this season. Only Erling Haaland and Igor Thiago have more goals than him.
Although born in London, Semenyo has Ghanaian ancestry and opted to represent the West African country at the international level.
