Mesut Ozil ‘agrees three-year deal with’ Fenerbahce in Turkey to end Arsenal career
Mesut Ozil is set to finally end his career at Arsenal after the midfielder reportedly agreed to join Turkish side Fenerbahce.
The German footballer joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in 2013 but has been out of coach Mikel Arteta’s plans since he took charge in December 2019.
Reports in Turkey suggest it is a ‘dream move’ for the 32-year-old who is expected to join the 19-time Turkish league winners this month.
The report said he has agreed on a three-and-a-half-year contract, which brings to an end his £350,000 per week deal at Arsenal.
Ozil, who had been in talks with US side DC United, posted a throwback picture on Tuesday night. January 5, on Twitter of him in Istanbul with the caption: ‘This city.
He was signed by Arsene Wenger in a club-record fee of £42million, and went on make 184 Premier League appearances as well as scoring 33 goals.
Ozil also won three FA Cups and Community Shield.
