Ex-Lagos deputy governors reject re-delineation bill
Two former Lagos State deputy governors, Princess Sarah Sosan and Dr. Idiat Adebule, yesterday backed a call by some Badagry indigenes for the state government to stop a bill proposing re-delineation of divisions in the state.
The resolution was reached after a meeting attended by traditional rulers, community leaders, political leaders and professional groups at the secretariat of Amuwo Odofin Local Government in Festac Town.
They rejected the proposed re-delineation of the “long-existing and the historical structure of the divisions in Lagos State.”
Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, who signed a communiqué released after the meeting, said: “Badagry Division is strongly opposed to the proposed merging of the present Badagry Division with Alimosho Federal Constituency, which is currently in Ikeja Division.”
He said the division was, by the communiqué, directing members of the House of Assembly representing Badagry Division to convey their decision to the Speaker, and “speak as contained in the communiqué whenever the need arises.”
