Army recruit dies during training in Zaria
The Gombe State Government has confirmed the death of a newly recruited Nigerian Army trainee, Ibrahim Nazifi, who passed away during training at the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria.
Nazifi was among the first batch of successful candidates from Gombe State undergoing training under the Nigerian Army Regular Recruit Intake (NA RRI 90).
In a statement on Thursday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters and Intergovernmental Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Danbayo, said the recruit died after a brief illness at the training facility.
Danbayo identified the deceased as a native of Buba Bani Village in Kashere Ward of Akko Local Government Area, with application number 90RRI-GO-9017726.
“It is with deep sorrow, humility and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah that I announce the passing of Ibrahim Nazifi, one of our promising recruits undergoing training at the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria,” Danbayo said.
Describing Nazifi as a patriotic young man who answered the call to serve his country, Danbayo said the loss was deeply felt by his family, the Gombe State Government, the people of Akko Local Government Area, and the state at large.
“This painful loss is not only felt by his family but by the entire people of Gombe State and all well-wishers,” he said.
He extended the condolences of the state government to the bereaved family, relatives, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, praying for divine mercy upon his soul.
“We pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his intentions and efforts as acts of worship, and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus,” Danbayo said.
He described the incident as a solemn reminder of the transient nature of life, stressing that every soul shall taste death, and to Allah alone is the final return. (The PUNCH)
