Tragedy Strikes Nigerian Football Again As Chukwueze Loses Mother
Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze, has lost his mother.
The sad news was confirmed on Thursday by his brother, David Chukwueze, through a series of emotional posts on Instagram.
“Can’t even post say RIP mom,” he wrote on his Instagram story.
“My forever love just left me without saying goodbye. You didn’t even carry your grandchild.”
Chukwueze is currently on loan from AC Milan to English Premier League side Fulham.
The tragedy comes barely days after Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi lost his father in a fatal road accident, plunging the national team into another round of grief.
Chukwueze recently featured for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he came under criticism after missing a penalty in the semi-final defeat to Morocco.
However, the 26-year-old has since bounced back, scoring for Fulham in his first appearance after the tournament.
He has recorded three goals and three assists for the London club so far this season.
