Cristiano Ronaldo slammed for “disrespecting” Juventus to join Man Utd

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus exit has been criticised by several club legends who claim they “deserve more respect”.

The Portuguese star ended his three-year stay in Turin earlier this month, returning to Manchester United after 12 years.

Ronaldo made his feelings clear at the Italian club, who allowed him to leave for just shy of £20m and head to Old Trafford.

But former Juventus duo Sergio Brio and Alessio Tacchinardi were not happy about the manner in which Ronaldo went about his departure.

The 36-year-old scored over 100 times for the Old Lady but was unable to deliver the Serie A title last term.

He left shortly before the window closed, leaving Juventus with precious little time to find a replacement in attack.

Tacchinardi told Tuttosport : “Ronaldo should have left in a different way, not on his private jet while (Massimiliano) Allegri was talking to the team before the game against Empoli.

“I expected a press conference to say goodbye to the fans. They deserved something different.

“There are no more legends such as [Alessandro] Del Piero, [Francesco] Totti, [Paolo] Maldini or [Javier] Zanetti, but it wasn’t nice to hear from Ronaldo that he was going back to a place he feels like home.

“He put Juventus in a difficult situation, leaving a few days before the end of the transfer window, it is impossible to replace a goal machine like him.”
