Katsina police parade 26 suspects for banditry, vandalism, others
Katsina police on Wednesday evening paraded no fewer than twenty -six suspects alleged to have committed various offences including banditry, vandalism, and flouting recently signed Katsina State Security Containment orders.
Seventeen of them were alleged to have violated the Security Containment orders.
They included three men, namely Rabi’u Usman,35 ; Sa’idu Shu’aibu, 38 and Awwalu Abdullah,40,all of Wanzamai village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara state.
They were alleged to be conveying eighty domestic animals,mainly goats and sheeps to Abuja,despite the Security Containment orders.
The Spokesman for the Katsina police Command,SP Gambo Isah, who briefed the press on behalf of Commissioner of police, Sanusi Buba, on the arrest,revealed that the trio were caught while transporting the domestic animals in a canter van Canter, with Registration number, ABS 647 XA.
The vehicle was said to have been driven by one 32-year-old Aliyu Abubakar of Kurmin Mashi, Kaduna State,who was also paraded.
Meanwhile,a 32-year-old man, Auwal Aliyu what was arrested on September 7, 2021 was also paraded on Wednesday.
The police spokesman said Aliyu of Kafi, an indigene of Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina state, was arrested while trying to board a vehicle in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina state.
SP Isah said all the suspects had allegedly confessed to have committed the offences they were arrested for,adding that they would soon be arraigned.
The police Spokesman said, “Suspects confessed to the commission of the offences and they will be charged to court for prosecution.” (Punch)
