October 31st PDP National Convention date, sacrosanct ― Fintiri
The Chairman of the just inaugurated People’s Democratic Party (PDP), National Convention Organizing Committee, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has reaffirmed that the October 31st 2021 Convention date for the party was sacrosanct.
Speaking with the press after the Inauguration in Abuja, on Friday, the Chairman of the Committee who is also the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri reassured that “we are equal to the task.
“The time is barely enough but we are adequately preparing. I don’t see any reason for any shift. We have written INEC and we have virtually gotten the approval of the venue. So what stops us from giving the best NWC at the end of October?.
“We are aware of the tax ahead of us, we know what Nigerians are expecting from us.
“But considering the calibre of the people that have made up, on this committee, I stand tall to be proud that this convention is going to be a successful one and one of the best.”
He commended the leadership of the party for holding firm the affairs of PDP. “They have done very well and extra well, they’ve taken this party from 10 governors to about 17 governors before we were robbed at the time.
“So I believe, by 2023, we’re going to have where we are in 2015, with about 28 governors and the President,” Fintiri stated.
While Inaugurating the National Convention Organizing Committee, the Acting Chairman of PDP, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi expressed confidence that the Committee will deliver on its mandate.
“Looking at the history of our previous conventions and based on the data available, the National working committee and indeed the National Executive Committee took time and carefully came up with the list of these highly respected party leaders to organise and conduct this noble exercise.
“By the composition of this committee, Nigerians and indeed, all PDP stakeholders expect nothing less than a successful national elective convention, which we are known for.”
He said “our last convention in Port Harcourt was adjudged the best ever conducted, by any political party in Africa.
“I, therefore, call on leaders and members of the organizing committee to not only sustain but also to improve upon what we experienced in Port Harcourt.”
Speaking on behalf of the National Assembly Members, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu said the Inauguration of the Convention Committee “marks the beginning of a strategic repositioning in our determined march with Nigerians to rescue and take back our dear nation from the stranglehold and misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.
“I have no doubt in my mind, that with the calibre of leaders and members of this all-important committee, our great party is on the right path for a very successful National Convention and ultimate victory in 2023.
“Indeed, Nigerians are reassured and inspired by the unity and oneness of purpose prevalent in our party today. Their utmost solidarity resides with the PDP in their determination to oust the incompetent, corrupt, divisive and violent APC-led government and we must not let them down,” he stated.
