Three Challenges Charles Soludo Will Face As Governor Of Anambra State

Charles Soludo has been declared as the winner of Anambra governorship election which held on Saturday and ended yesterday. He was declared in the early hours of today by the Independent national electoral commission which automatically makes him the next governor of Anambra state.

As the governor-elect who is just coming on board not as a politician but a technocrat, the road will not be full of roses for him due to some underlying crisis in the state and governance in the south east region of the country.

One of the challenges that will befall him at the early days of governance is security. As it is known that south east zone is currently volatile, anything can come up in the region as it has been happening in the past few months. Before the election held, there have been threats to lives and properties, some groups of individuals vowed that there won’t be election in the state, some were arrested and locally made bombs were even uncovered by police men which shows how the security of the state is being threatened. As a governor, this is one of the challenges that will befall Charles Soludo.

Another issue that he will have to battle with is party crisis. As a governor, he automatically becomes the political leader of APGA in the state. Before the election held, right from the primary election of the party, there have been crisis between leaders which led to factions coming up. Even before Charles Soludo was finally confirmed as the party candidate, it took several judgments. This has shown that the party isn’t in the best of times therefore as governor, this is another challenge he will have to face.

Also, being the only APGA governor in South East, Charles Soludo may face challenges connecting with others who are from PDP and APC. The fact that he wouldn’t want to be too close to them may get him sidelined in some things that will benefit Anambra state.
