‘I’m a Mami water’ — Chikwendu says amid custody tussle with Fani-Kayode
Precious Chikwendu, the estranged wife of Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation, has claimed that she is a “Mami water.”
“Mami water” is a Nigerian term for mermaid — a creature that has been associated with evil and destruction.
In a string of videos shared on her Instagram stories on Monday, the former beauty queen said she has been told that she is a mermaid but “Africans take this Mami thing too seriously.”
Chikwendu added that she belongs in the ilk of the “good ones” and not the evil kinds.
“I’m supposed to be a Mami (water). I was told I’m a Mami. I was actually told I’m a Mami. But you know how Africans take this Mami thing too seriously. It’s actually not that serious,” she said.
“If I’m supposed to be a Mami, then I’ll be a good one.”
Chikwendu has been in a heated tussle for the custody of the four children she had with Fani-Kayode. This was after their marriage failed in 2020.
The beauty queen had recently accused the ex-minister of preventing her from seeing her kids over the past year.
Fani-Kayode, however, alleged that Chikwendu has had access to the kids but willfully refused to pay them a visit.
