The senate has deleted clause 87 of the electoral act amendment bill which provides for a compulsory direct primary poll for all political parties in the country.
The change was made to the legislation after Abdullahi Yahaya, senate leader, sponsored a motion in the upper legislative chamber on Wednesday.
