Singer Britney Spears arrested for DUI
Pop icon Britney Spears was arrested Wednesday night for driving under the influence (DUI), according to law enforcement sources.
Spears was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 PM and was later booked by the Sheriff’s department at approximately 3 AM. She was released from jail around 6 AM Thursday, as confirmed by inmate records.
According to TMZ, at the time of her arrest, Spears was alone in her vehicle when officers pulled her over in Westlake Village, a short distance from her residence. Following the traffic stop, she was transported to a local hospital to have her blood drawn, a procedure necessitated by the circumstances of her arrest. Sources indicate that the hospital visit was precautionary and that she did not sustain any injuries.
Spears’ team is yet to make any comment regarding the incident.
This arrest follows a recent legal victory for the singer, who was granted a permanent restraining order against a Louisiana man after he allegedly showed up at her Los Angeles home and posted disturbing content on social media.
Spears has faced legal challenges in the past, notably in 2007 when she encountered misdemeanor charges related to an alleged hit-and-run. Those charges were ultimately dropped after she compensated the vehicle owner for damages, and a mistrial was declared in a related case when the jury deadlocked.
The singer, known for her hit “Toxic,” has previously faced scrutiny regarding her personal life, including losing custody of her two children with ex-husband Kevin Federline following a series of troubling incidents.
