The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), an umbrella body for governors of the 36 states, has wished Ayodele Fayose, outgoing governor in Ekiti, luck in his new endeavour.
The forum said this in a congratulatory message to Kayode Fayemi, winner of the state gubernatorial election.
Fayemi defeated Kolapo Olusola, deputy governor of the state, who contested the election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Abdulaziz Yari, governor of Zamfara who also serves as the chairman said “elections are usually healthy contests that determine who keeps the mantle of leadership in the state for a certain period of time and not a victor and vanquished affair.”
He said all contestants, regardless of their party manifesto, primarily are agents of governance that wish to move the welfare and wellbeing of their people to the next level.
“The NGF chairman, while wishing the out-going governor of Ekiti State Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, luck in his new endeavour and stating that the NGF would miss his invaluable contributions at its meetings, also welcomes the in-coming governor to the forum to which he is returning as a ranking and experienced member,” the statement read.
He added that since the people of Ekiti have spoken, the governor-elect should be magnanimous in victory by expressing his fervent desire to govern the state for the benefit of all.
The NGF chairman wished Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti, luck in his new endeavour, saying that the forum would miss his invaluable contributions at its meetings.
Yari also welcomed Fayemi, adding that he hopes the governor-elect would join hands with the other governors in the country to strengthen the NGF and add value to their deliberations at their monthly meetings. (The Cable)
