Group urges support for Lagos APC chair
A political advocacy group, The Six Wings Advocacy Network, has called on members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State to rally behind the state party chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, following his re-election for a second term in office.
In a statement on Wednesday signed by its representative, Victoria Oshinfade, the group said party unity and collective commitment were necessary to consolidate the gains recorded during Ojelabi’s first tenure.
The network urged party members across the state to provide the chairman with the necessary cooperation to strengthen the party’s structure and sustain its electoral strength.
“As the chairman of the All Progressive Congress in Lagos State begins another tenure in office, we call on all members and stakeholders of the party across the state to rally behind the chairman and give him the necessary support to consolidate the gains of his first tenure.
“Party unity, loyalty and collective commitment remain essential for sustaining the party’s progress and electoral strength in the state,” the statement partly read.
The group congratulated Ojelabi on his re-election, describing his renewed mandate as a reflection of the confidence party stakeholders have in his leadership and administrative capacity.
According to the network, Ojelabi’s first tenure was marked by strategic consolidation and improved internal cohesion within the party.
The advocacy platform, which promotes political participation, said the chairman’s second term presents an opportunity to deepen inclusiveness and strengthen mentorship within the party.
“We urge the chairman, as he has always done, to prioritise the integration of competent young people into leadership and decision-making structures, and promote capacity-building initiatives for emerging leaders,” it further stated.
The group added that it remained ready to support policies and initiatives that promote responsible leadership and democratic values.(Punch)
