Stakeholders raise alarm over increase in ritual killings in Ogun
Stakeholders in Ogun State have raised the alarm over the surge of kidnapping, ritual killings, internet fraud, and other social vices among young adults.
They expressed their worries at a Security Submit in the state organized by the Police Community Relations Officers (PCRC) in conjunction with Ogun State National Youth Council of Nigeria, to identify and tackle the main causes of crimes and rituals among youths in the state.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by his special adviser on security, DIG Subair Olusola at the summit tagged “Growing waves of crime and criminalities among youths and young adults” which took place at the Valley View Hall, Oke Igbe hosts religious leaders, government officials, and all security units of the state.
According to Olusola, the state government was ready to create more jobs for the youths in the state as he advised them to go to the state job portal to start submitting their credentials.
He said the governor has ordered all security units to punish anyone caught in crime, including government officials.
The state chairman, APC, Chief Samson Kunle Popoola opined that every one of “us contributed to the condition at which we all find ourselves in Nigeria.”
The Ogun State PCRC chairman, Dr. Samson Popoola said the campaign against crime and rituals among the youths would continue in the state and would be extended to other states nationwide.
Commissioner for Police, Lanre Bankole vowed to step on toes in discharging his duties rightly and collaborate with the government towards curbing immorality from degrading.
He said the state would not condone crime and rituals among the youths as he promised to wipe crime out of Ogun State.’
