Former deputy speaker, Lasun Yusuf quits APC weeks after losing primary

A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Yusuf submitted his resignation letter at the Osun state party Secretariat, Osogbo on Friday morning.

Though the detail of the letter is yet to be made public, an officer of the party confirmed that Lasun had resigned his membership.

Yusuf was a former governorship aspirant of the APC in 2018.

He also aspired to be the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the party’s recently concluded primary election.

He came in a distant third, behind Moshood Adeoti and the eventual winner and Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.

However, Kola Olabisi, the media aide to the Osun State APC chairman, said the chairman was unaware of Yusuf’s resignation.

“We are in Abuja. The chairman has not been informed that he (Yusuf) has resigned from APC,” he said.

Yusuf confirmed his resignation to PUNCH: “Thanks for the enquiry. It is true. I have left APC. That is all I want to say for now.”
