No coalition can defeat Tinubu in 2027 – Cleric
The General Overseer of Pentecostal Sanctuary Bible Ministries, Ijebu-Ode, Prophet Sunday Iyunade, has expressed confidence that ethnic divisions or political opposition would not prevent President Bola Tinubu from securing a second term in 2027, urging Nigerians to support efforts aimed at addressing the country’s challenges.
He also warned separatist and secessionist agitators in the country to channel their time and resources into more productive ventures, insisting that Nigeria will not disintegrate.
The cleric spoke while addressing journalists in Ijebu-Ode during a briefing to announce activities marking the church’s 30th anniversary and its 24th convention, with the theme: “Maranatha, Your Lord Cometh.”
The convention is scheduled to be held between March 22 and 29, 2026.
He said, “The truth is that I do not see any coalition having what it takes to challenge this present administration, even though they are all politicians.
“However, as this government progresses, wealth will return to Nigeria. There will be an explosion of wealth in the country, and the economy is already bouncing back. I believe God has heard the prayers of Christians,” he added.
Speaking on agitation for the break-up of the country, the cleric said such calls were contrary to what he described as God’s plan for Nigeria.
“Nigerians need to drop ethnic bias and promote patriotism. There is great hope for our nation. Nigeria will experience progress, and God will disappoint all those who have predicted the breakup of the country.
“Nigeria can have differing interests, but not separation. For now, Nigeria cannot be divided as it is not part of God’s agenda for the country. It is wishful thinking and a wasteful investment,” he said.
He advised groups advocating secession to focus on developing their regions through economic and technological investments rather than pursuing what he described as a divisive agenda.
Iyunade supported the Federal Government’s move to establish state police, describing it as a long-overdue policy that should be implemented to address rising cases of banditry and kidnapping, particularly in the South-West.
On global developments, Iyunade described the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Iran and Israel as inevitable, stating that it would help curb terrorist activities across the world.
He said the convention theme, drawn from 1 Corinthians 16:13, was meant to remind Christians of the need to remain vigilant and prepare for the second coming of Christ.
The cleric also urged residents of Ijebu land to pray for the emergence of a credible successor to the Awujale, expressing confidence that the Ogun State Government would ensure a transparent selection process.
As part of activities marking the anniversary, he said the church would make donations to the state hospital and the correctional centre as part of its contribution to community development. (Punch)
