Followers of the senator representing Kogi West in the Senate, Dino Melaye, have expressed doubts about his claim that he escaped from those who “kidnapped” him on Wednesday evening.

The Kogi senator had been scheduled to appear in a high court to face charges of gun-running, but he was absent at Thursday’s proceeding.

His lawyer, Barrister Yemi Mohammed, who stood in for Mike Ozekhome (SAN) told the trial magistrate, Suleyman Abdalah, that he had it on good authority that Senator Melaye was attacked in Gwagwalada, Abuja, on Wednesday on his way home from the court.

Senator Melaye then took to his Twitter handle on Friday morning to narrate how he purportedly escaped from his “abductors” and trekked for 11 hours in the “wilderness” until he reached a safe haven.
