Teenage boy found dead in University of Ibadan swimming pool
The Nigeria Police Force in Oyo State has launched an investigation into the death of a teenage boy whose body was discovered in a swimming pool at the University of Ibadan.
The victim, believed to be between 14 and 15 years old, was found floating on the surface of the pool in the early hours of Thursday, according to the command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka.
Preliminary findings, based on information from the university’s Chief Security Officer, indicate that the body bore signs of possible violence.
Blood was seen oozing from the nose and mouth, while slight bruises were observed on the nose, raising suspicion of foul play.
Detectives who visited the scene also discovered personal items believed to belong to the deceased, including a pair of shoes and a shirt, near the pool. Blood stains were further observed within the pavilion area, adding to concerns that the incident may not have been accidental.
The body was evacuated to General Hospital Adeoyo, where the victim was confirmed dead on arrival before being deposited at the mortuary.
Police authorities said the case is being treated as a suspected murder, with a full-scale investigation underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
The command urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, assuring that efforts are ongoing to uncover the truth behind the incident.
