A joint security operation in border Tsauri community in Kano has foiled an attempted incursion by armed bandits, rescuing over 500 rustled cattle and neutralising at least two suspects.

The Chairman of Faruruwa Community Security Committee, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, hailed the swift response of security agencies, particularly the police in curtailing the situation.

According to him, “The bandits, numbering in hundreds and riding on about 150 motorcycles, stormed Tsauri town in Shanono Local Government Area in broad daylight.”

He added that the attackers targeted a Fulani herder with over 2,000 cattle, attempting to steal a large number of the livestock, saying that the community quickly alerted security operatives and neighbouring areas, including Goron Dutse, Shanono, and Tsanyawa, while he personally contacted the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

He narrated that the police commissioner promptly ordered a coordinated response, leading to the deployment of a joint team comprising security personnel and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF).

He stated that the bandits were intercepted while attempting to flee with the rustled cattle. Some were heading towards Katsina, while others remained within the Kano axis.

Security forces engaged them, killing about two and recovering over 500 cows.

He expressed satisfaction with the prompt intervention, stating that the response helped to avert a potential security breach.
