Suspected Kidnappers Of Police Applicant Arrested In Plateau
Operatives of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping and robbery of a prospective police recruit during the recent Physical/Credential screening exercise.
The incident occurred on February 26, 2026, around 3:00 pm, when the victim was waylaid by hoodlums while returning to Qua’anpan Local Government Area after the screening.
According to the Police Command, the assailants robbed the victim of his Samsung Galaxy A8 phone, a power bank and the sum of ₦25,000 before abducting him to a jungle in Gada Biu, where he was kept for some time and later released.
Parading the suspects at the state police command headquarters on Saturday, Commissioner of Police, CP Bassy Ewan, identified the arrested persons as Prince Bernard Bassey, 25, from Ogoja in Cross River State, and Sunday Laraba from Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The commissioner said, “Upon receiving the complaint, we directed the officer in charge of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) to swing into action immediately.
Acting on the directive the same day, the operatives arrested the suspects at Gada Biu in Jos.”
He said items recovered from the suspects included hard drugs, sharp objects and several SIM cards.
“The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue. They will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the CP further added.
