The Royal Family has announced that King Charles III and Queen Camilla will undertake a state visit to the United States in April.

In an X post on Tuesday, the Royal Family said the visit would be carried out on the advice of His Majesty’s Government and at the invitation of the US president.

According to the statement, the visit is aimed at celebrating the “longstanding ties” between the UK and the US, as well as strengthening their modern bilateral relationship.

It added that the trip will also mark the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The Royal Family said the King will, after the US visit, travel to Bermuda for his first official visit to a British Overseas Territory since ascending the throne.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump said he and his wife, Melania Trump, would host the British monarch and his wife during the visit scheduled for April 27 to 30.

According to the US President, the visit will include a banquet dinner at the White House on the evening of April 28.

Trump said the visit would be “Terrific”.

“Melania and I are pleased to announce that Their Majesties, the King and Queen of the United Kingdom, will visit the United States for a historic state visit from April 27 to 30,” Trump said.

“This momentous occasion will be even more special this year as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of our great country.

“I look forward to spending time with the King, whom I greatly respect.”
