Bandits Gun Down Officer, Loot Shops In Katsina Community
A police officer has been killed and several goods stolen following bandits’ attack on Sayaya village in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The assailants reportedly stormed the community and launched an attack on a local police station, killing one officer.
They also attacked a Primary Health Care Centre and looted shops, carting away wares and other valuables.
Residents said the attack caused panic in the area, forcing many to flee for safety as the gunmen operated for hours.
They added that they were taken unawares, as such incidents had subsided since a peace deal was reached in the area.
Meanwhile, Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, visited the affected community to assess the situation.
He inspected the damaged facilities and commiserated with residents over the losses recorded.
The governor also condoled with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and officers of the command over the death of their colleague and extended sympathies to affected families.
He also directed for the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the area to prevent further attacks and restore normalcy.(Daily trust)
