United States President Donald J. Trump has accused Iran of failing to uphold commitments related to the movement of oil through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, describing Tehran’s actions as both inadequate and “dishonorable.”

The reopening of the waterway formed a major rallying point for the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the U.S.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “Iran is doing a very poor job, dishonorable some would say, of allowing Oil to go through the Strait of Hormuz. That is not the agreement we have!”

In another post, Trump warned against Iran charging fees for passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

“There are reports that Iran is charging fees to tankers going through the Hormuz Strait — They better not be and, if they are, they better stop now!” Trump wrote on Friday.

His remarks come amid reports that shipping activity remains severely disrupted in the vital waterway, despite a recently announced ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

According to Al Jazeera, only a handful of vessels have transited the strait since Washington and Tehran agreed to a two-week pause in hostilities earlier in the week, raising concerns over the persistence of one of the worst global energy disruptions in history.

Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that a new report had revealed that a private oil tanker company paid about $2 million to Iran to secure safe passage through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The situation has further heightened tensions between the two countries, with Iran’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, warning that U.S. actions in the region are undermining diplomatic efforts. He stated that “the United States is letting Israel kill diplomacy.”

Araghchi also linked ongoing geopolitical tensions to Israel’s domestic political situation, referencing the legal troubles of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“Netanyahu’s criminal trial resumes on Sun. A region-wide ceasefire, including Lebanon, would hasten his jailing,” he said.

He further cautioned Washington against policies that could escalate the situation, adding, “If the U S. wishes to crater its economy by letting Netanyahu kill diplomacy, that would ultimately be its choice. We think that would be dumb but are prepared for it.”

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has condemned what he described as renewed Israeli aggression against Lebanon, warning that such actions threaten the fragile ceasefire and broader regional stability.

In a statement, Pezeshkian said, “Renewed aggression by the Zionist regime against Lebanon blatantly violates the initial ceasefire.”

He added that the development raises serious concerns about Israel’s commitment to peace agreements in the region.

Accusing Israel of acting in bad faith, he stated, “Such actions signal deception and non-compliance, rendering negotiations meaningless.”

The Iranian leader also reaffirmed Tehran’s support for Lebanon, declaring, “Our hands remain on the trigger. Iran will never forsake its Lebanese brothers and sisters.”(SaharaReporters)
